Ophthalmoplegia - CNVI Palsy

 

Features:

• Failure of lateral movement

• Affected eye is deviated inwards in severe lesions

• Diplopia - maximal on looking to affected side

Bilateral

• Trauma

• Wernicke's Encephalopathy

• Raised ICP

• Mononeuritis multiplex

Unilateral

• Central

  • Vascular​

  • Tumour

  • Wernicke's encephalopathy

  • MS

• Peripheral

  • Diabetes, or other vascular lesions​

  • Trauma

  • Idiopathic

  • Raised ICP
